OUR CLUB
The Alexandra Ice Skating Club (AISC) has been in operation for over 50 years.
AISC originated at the Lower Mannorburn Dam, and moved into Alexandra when the current Alexandra ice rink was opened in 1992.
We are the only official Ice Skating Club continuing to operate on an outdoor ice rink in the Southern Hemisphere, doing so on Iceinline’s outdoor ice rink in the heart of Central Otago. Most famous for being the largest outdoor ice skating rink in the Southern Hemisphere being an Olympic size rink measuring 60 x 30 meters.
The club is an incorporated society having been incorporated in 1995, and a registered charity since 1999. Alexandra Ice Skating Club is affiliated to the New Zealand Ice Figure Skating Association who are affiliated to the International Skating Union.
Our club is passionate about supporting Ice Skaters at all levels, and getting people out on the ice, in a fun, supportive, friendly environment. We welcome new members, volunteers, & guest skaters and anyone wishing to find out more about ice skating.
Alexandra Ice Skating Club provides coaching, testing, competition and fun skating opportunities for all skating levels. Our skaters include young pre-schoolers, primary and high school students together with adult skaters. Whatever a skaters goals are, be it to learn to just simply skate, take up figure skating, enter competitions, qualify for nationals, get out on the ice for fitness, be part of our Club Ice Show, Alexandra Ice Skating Club is here to support all our skaters goals and aspirations.
Alexandra Ice Skating Club is a non-profit organisation, run by a very dedicated team of volunteers. Our AGM is usually held in early March, where the Officer’s roles are appointed.
